Elmo Potty Time

This is it peeps ... we are officially potty training over here! This all started with a video called "Elmo's Potty Time" that Peyton became quickly obsessed with. Everything has been about pee-pee and poo-poo lately. I have known he was ready for awhile now, but it was just too much for me tho think about with a very difficult newborn on my hands. Last week Peyton picked up a new habit, scooping the poo-poo out of his diaper to show to me and say "eeeeeewwwww momma eeeeeeewwwwwww!" Ok ... now I am motivated to potty train! Yucko! (Excuse the awkward angle on this picture, I did not want his family jewels showing!) We are going old school with the method. We are using cloth diaper chonies with vinyl covers to catch some of the leaking. I did not want to do pull ups. I plan to still use night time diapers for a little while.
We are devoting a week to staying in ... for the most part anyways. And sitting on the potty every 15 minutes. We moved up from the little potty we had in the bathroom that he would sit on while we were going potty, to this big potty adapter. It beats cleaning the potty out of the other thing!
The potty chart! Excuse my awful art work and crooked chart lines! Peyton got so excited about this chart. After I put it up he ran into the kitchen and squealed ELMO! After he put his pee-pee's in the potty (notice the first sticker) we cheered and clapped and screamed and ran to the kitchen to put up the sticker. Fun was had by all! I could not have asked for a more receptive reaction from Peyton, it was everything I had hoped for. And he has added more stickers since this picture was take!
So far we are off to a good start, but pray for me this week! I am either on a couch breast feeding, or running to the bathroom with Peyton, or cleaning up an "oopsie"! Not my most glamorous week =) I will keep you guys posted!

Wow! Way to go Peyton. I used rubber pants with Gracie, but I got tired of washing them. We used pull-ups for a couple of weeks. Now she is in panties. I ordered a portable toilet seat online. It is great for when you're out. You just unfold it and put it on top of the toilet.

Good luck!! From my research boys tend to be more difficult with potty training, so if it takes him longer don't worry it will come! The treats and charts work great to keep them motivated. Good luck!! Once he gets the hang of it you are good to go!:)

I potty trained Emma when Annabelle was just a wee baby too, so I totally know how you feel. :) Not glamorous at all, but the end result is SO worth it!! I hope he does great! and your chart is adorable.
