Every Venture is an Adventure

Today we ventured out to have Peyton's 2 year old check up and Cohen's 4 months old check up. I wised up from last time and set the appointment for 10:30 am rather than 8:30 am. It was much easier to get there on time ... we were even early!

Knowing that both boys would be getting 4 shots, Peyton and I rehearsed over and over how this was all going to go down. Peyton you are going to get a bobo called a shot, it is going to hurt but you will get a num-num called a sucker when it is all done. I even showed him where he was getting the shots on his leg. When the nurse walked in Peyton jumped up and said "Pey-pey bobo, Pey-pey num-num ... yeah ... yeah ... Pey-pey bobo, Pey-pey num-num ... OK ... OK." And he did great! The nurse was dying with laughter =)

Cohen did not do as well. So much harder when they do not understand A THING! And you can not offer up a sucker as a peace offering =( Snuggles for Cohen the rest of the day! He did flash some stunning smiles for everyone BEFORE he realized what he was there for! The last picture of Cohen with his bobo's is absolutely tragic!

Cohen: 24 inches long and 15 lbs. He is a chunky monkey but the doctor said he is super healthy. She attributes him waking up every few hours during the night to me not starting him on rice cereal or food yet ... WHATEVER! I do not think he needs anything more to eat ... I am holding out a little longer on that one.

Peyton: 34 inches long and 25 lbs. He is a skinny minny but the doctor said again, very healthy! His head is finally growing and at a "normal" size now =) Moving from pin head to pumpkin head maybe ...?! The doctor said "you need to potty train him now" then walked out of the room. Really?! Do you want to come do that for me doc?! I DO have my hands a little full and he is only 2! Anyways ... =)

What a great start to my Thanksgiving week. 2 incredibly healthy boys that I am more and more thankful for each day. Both unique in so many ways, and special in every way! Psalms 139:13-14 "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."

Who is your doctor? I don't think she has had any children herself, lol. I think both your boys are doing just fine. Both of my girls didn't potty train until they were like at least 2 and a half and boys are usually a little later. Cohen is only 4 months old all of my kids didn't get solids until they were at least 6 months, if he is drinking formula or your milk that is totally sufficiant for now. I think every kid is different in their sleeping patterns. Gavan is 10 months old and is still waking up once in the middle of the night and both girls had their own thing they did too. Anyways I think you are doing a terrific job! Sorry to make this so long, can't wait to see you this week.

You crack me up. I am totally reading this in your voice. :)

Your boys are so beautiful and don't stress on the potty training thing... Swee'Pea is three months older and STILL no potty training for him... we are going to try again though in the new few months... so pray for my sanity! :)

It was not our normal pediatrician that we met with, I like mine better. But she was fine, I just did not agree with her on everything =) She said a lot of good things too but for some reason I left all of those out ... boo on me =( She was OK =)

Don't worry, potty training boys takes more time (they would rather play then tell you they need to go potty). M&M treats worked best at our house!

I'm glad the boys are healthy and growing! Take the dr's comment about potty training with a grain of salt. Don't worry about it! I'm so glad Peyton did so well with his shots. That is awesome!
