Look Who's Talking

This post might just be for me and my failing memory, but I am on cloud 9 with all of the things my first child is saying lately. This has to be one of the most exciting times in a mothers life! Sometimes I just stop and think "did he really just say that" and then burst into laughter or look at him with beaming pride. Seeing his heart through his words brings us to a whole new place in our little relationship, I feel so blessed to be raising this precious little boy!

Peyton is 2 1/2 right now and he is a communicator! He absolutely loves to sing, right now his favorites are:
  • The Wheels on the Buss {which he calls "beep beep" because the horn on the buss is his favorite part!
  • Twinkle Twinkle Little Star {complete with hand moves}
  • I Love You from Barney. He loves this one, we HAVE to sing it every. single. night!
  • Jesus Loves Me and at the end of the song he tells me Jee-jee {Jesus} loves Mommy too!
  • A B C's He beams with pride after singing his abc's and Mommy is clapping and cheering and dancing for him!
  • Head Shoulder Knees and Toes and for round two we do a super fast version of the song which ends in crashing to the floor for a dog pile =)
  • And today I caught him walking around the house singing, when I asked him what he was singing he said it was "the Elmo, Barney, mommy song"! It was really cute!

Aside from all of the singing, he has been communicating in complete thoughts lately! He is articulate, a thinker, a rationalizer, a negotiator, and a stinkin cute little boy who has finally found his words!

  • Last week when I told Peyton that he HAD to go to bed and stay in bed, he replied with "Baby cry cry cry. Go night night! Pey-pey no cry. Pey-pey no night night!!!" I giggled at the logic, but he still had to go to bed =)
  • Last week we were having trouble with Peyton coming out of his room rather than staying down for a nap. He got out of bed about 10 times already and was disciplined and sent back. I thought I had him down for good when I was pulling weeds out of my vegi garden, then Peyton walked outside with nothing but a ball cap covering his face. I frustratedly told him to get back in bed when he said "I not Pey-pey. I hat. Where Pey-pey?? Hat no go night night!!!"
  • Today Peyton was sitting on the grass in the back yard with Cohen holding Cohen's face by his cheeks looking him in the eyes saying "Baby be nice. Bad baby, buggy's BITE BITE BITE you! Be nice!" When I asked Peyton why he was saying that he told me Cohen was biting him so buggy was going to bite Cohen {then he held up a rolly-polly} LOL We had to have a little chat about wishing revenge on our brothers.
  • Last week we were ALL having an off day. Both the boys were crying a LOT and I was about to. So I sat down with Peyton, held his hands and asked him if we could pray to Jesus together to ask for patience to get through today, he said "YES! Pay for shay-since mommy!" So I said {Dear Jesus please help us make it through today with clean hearts, help us love each other and be kind. Please help mommy with her patience and please please please allow us all to get some rest and wake up refreshed!" Peyton threw my hands down and yelled "NOOOOOOOOO Mommy! No pay for night nights! Pay shay-since!" LOL apparently he does not know that without night nights mommy does not have patience!

These were just some of my favorite little Peyton things lately. I hope by writing them down I will never forget these precious little moments in his life. This new development in our family of having a TALKER might result in more writing and less pictures on my blog! Well maybe not, we shall see, these boys are all kinds of gorgeous and I love to dote over pictures =)

I would love to hear what some of the first things your child said were!!!???

I just LOVE that stage when kids start rapidly picking up language and speech and have the ability to start letting loose and speaking! I remember those days when every day was exciting and new as I wondered what new word or words my kids would say. Sometimes it is just unbelievable! You'll be so glad you have these written down, you don't think you'll forget but you certainly do. I have already forgotten so much. :(

As they get older the things that come out of their mouths get funnier and sometimes sassier! Watch out! It is fast approaching that your own words or comments will get thrown back at you! Luke told his dad at lunch time today that something WAS fair b/c life isn't fair (which I have started telling him). Nice to know he does listen!
