This precious little squirt has been a little off this week. His Granny who watches him on weekdays has been very sick, so he has been with several different people this week at several different houses. He needed some mommy and daddy time. I tried thinking of something fun we could do as a family along with Ryan's insane tax season schedule ... and while I was thinking about it, Peyton brought me this book to read!

What a great idea! I got the heads up from some other mom's to go to the LA Zoo not Fresno =) So Sunday afternoon we trotted off to the zoo! We had lunch at the zoo which was surprisingly really good! While daddy was getting the food we had a chance to snap a couple pictures!

First stop was the flamingo's! My personal fave! You just have to love a naturally pink large bird! And they walked so prestigious! It was fun. Peyton looked really confused when I was telling him that they were "birds ... chirp chirp chirp birds". He is used to Grandpa's little bird named Rascal, which looks nothing like a flamingo =)

Peyton's reactions to all of the animals was pure intrigue more than smiles. He would point at them and anxiously try to get our attention to make sure we were seeing the same thing he was! We would smile, point at them too, and then tell him what kind of animal they were.

The seals were big show offs! Peyton just loved that. They would disappear under the water and he would start looking everywhere for them, then they would swoop right out of the water onto a rock in such a show off pose with their noses high and Peyton would get excited again. I think he loved the water too ... I am not sure he is going to be as impressed by his nightly baths anymore since he has seen this =)

The gorillas were amazing. There was a mommy gorilla feeding the baby gorilla the whole time. They did not move much so they did not really keep Peyton's attention ... but Ryan and I were amazed!

More pointing, and making sure we were seeing what he was seeing ... I think that was the Zebras! By the way I want one of those too (hint hint Ryan). Who needs a pony when you could have a Zebra?! I wonder if you can ride them?

Then there was the Lion's den! Those are some lazy cats! They just slept and enjoyed the beautiful weather. I tried explaining to Peyton they were "kitty cats ... meow meow ... kitty cats" he looked at me like I had gone nutty =)

Now on to his favorite part of the trip! And mine and Ryan's too =) The Giraffes! They were so amazing, and huge, and walked right up to us! The sun was at just the WRONG place in the sky to be taking pictures with my stupid little camera, but here is what we got!

I think these were Mountain Goats ... Peyton just barked at them =)

Now on to the Tiger! It was so much more interesting than the Lions! This Tiger was on the move and roaring and growling ... it kind of made me sad ... I think it did not like all of the people. Poor little kitty cat =( But Peyton was very interested in him, yet again he did not get my associating this animal with being a kitty cat!

There were actually two Black Bears in there and they were wrestling and playing around, they were really cute and Peyton enjoyed them!

I think these were elk ... not really sure though. They did not move much so Peyton was not very interested. They ended the trip for us!

We hope you enjoyed our zoo trip as much as we did! It only took us an hour and 45 min to get there, I would totally recommend it as a fun day out to anyone looking for something fun to go do! Peyton loved all of his mommy and daddy time, and was all back to his normal little self by the end of the day =)

I am glad that you guys enjoyed all your time together. I am sure it was much needed with all the sickness and tax madness that has been going around your house lately. ;)

HOW FUN! I'm so glad you guys were able to have a little get-away and just soak up some together time in such a wonderful way. Zoo trips are the best-- our girls need to go again sometime soon, they would just love that.
