Giving Thanks
Thanksgiving has to be one of my favorite holidays, it has my favorite foods and it is a needed reminder of what we all have to be thankful for. Having two healthy little boys gives Thanksgiving even more meaning to me, I am so thankful for them and everything they have been blessed with as well. Grandad and Grandma's house up the mountain was the perfect place to celebrate!
This year we tried something new that I loved. We found a story about the "Five Kernels of Corn" at the first Thanksgiving feast. There was time prior to the large harvest that the settlers were starving. They were rationing out five kernels of corn a person. So at the big feast they started off with five kernels of corn on their plates as a reminder of there recent trials before they enjoyed their feast. So we made these to sit on our plates before our feast =)
It was fun to watch Peyton devour his meal this year. Of course he LOVED Aunt Sunny's sweet potato's with LOADS of sugar =) I heart them too! He is a big fan of turkey also though.
Who else has a Grandad that does dishes?! Gotta love this guy, he is a super kitchen helper, and a magnificent turkey carver also!
The children enjoyed coloring some turkey, harvest, and pilgrim pictures. They might have colored some other things in Grandma's house as well, can't be sure.
Joe-Joe with Drew-Drew =) Everyone was enjoyed the fresh crisp and clean mountain air.
All the men enjoyed sitting on the patio chatting away about politics and health care plans to work off all of their feasting =) So "interesting" right?! Men ...
Peyton looking a mix of GQ and just plain silly =) He loves romping through the hills playing with sticks and rocks ... simple pleasures for a little boy!
Cohen got overly loved, he just soaked up all of that snuggling with his Aunt Patty.

Sorry about the loads of sugar, at least we only eat it about once a year! Thanksgiving was fun, it's so special to me that we get to celebrate with extended family. My relatives all lived far away and I don't think I've ever spent a Thanksgiving with my own grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. I'm so thankful that seeing our extended family is a regular thing for my own kids!
